Lynchburg City Councilman Turner Perrow has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ 2014 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee.
The committee takes the lead in developing NLC positions on federal policy issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste man-agement.
The NLC is a local government organization representing the interests of some 19,000 cities and towns across the United States.
“As a member of this Committee, I will have direct access to senior policy makers in Washington, D.C., and will have the opportunity to influence policies, such as those pertaining to stormwater regulations, which affect the citizens of Lynchburg,” Perrow said in a written statement.
Perrow, Ward IV representative on council, added his professional background as an engineer made him well suited to weigh in on these technical issues. He currently is serving on the Virginia Municipal League’s Environmental Quality Policy Committee as well.
